1. PicsArt
With over 500 million downloads, there is no doubt PicsArt is the best android photo editor app. The app has an easy-to-use interface and will not take much time to explore all the features. I have been using the PicsArt app for over 5 years since it offers all the necessary features that I want without having to install a separate app.
You can find all the essential photo editing tools like rotate, crop, contrast, saturation, and much more. But for those who want to take their photo to a different level, the PicsArt has plenty of effects such as sketch, blur, artistic, glitch, and so on. You also get a dedicated tool “Beautify” to make minor changes on your face like face fix, remove wrinkles, changing skin tone or hair color, etc.
Other features of PicsArt
- You can find almost any stickers you want.
- With one click, you can turn your full-size image to fit in square size for Instagram Post.
- Minor features like drawing, adding lens flare, shape mask, frame, and so on.
PicsArt also has paid subscriptions known as PicsArt Gold ($3.99/month) through which you will get access to all the features like unlimited brushes, 100+ filters, video editor, tools, no ads, and many more. Overall PicsArt is a great photo editing app, and you should definitely try.
2.Snapseed
Snapseed is a powerful and free photo editing app developed by Google and has many advanced features but first, let’s talk about UI. The app interface is clean, all tools are easy to access and comes with no ads.
As for the editing part, you get a few basic filters to enhance your photo including 28 different varieties of tools. Well, most of the tools you will find are common in almost all photo editor apps such as crop, rotate, brush, frames, text, and so on. Furthermore, you can also edit RAW photos and later can be saved as JPG format.
But what made me use Snapseed a lot is its healing tool. What it does is it removes the object from the background which you have selected just in one tap. This same feature is available on PicsArt too but it comes under their gold subscription plans. So if you want to remove background object you know which app to install.
3. Fotor Photo Editor
The last app on our list is the Fotor app which features all the essential editing tools you may need like adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation, crop, rotate, and so on. If that’s not enough for you then there are plenty of filters to please you. Furthermore, you can download more effects from their store either for free or in-app purchases.
Also, you will find huge collections of stickers and frames and if you need more, then you can download them from their store. But what I liked about the Fotor app is the collage maker. It is not only limited to an old classic style collage template but also comes with a magazine design template which further enhances your photo.
What’s more, you can also download more collage templates from the store. There is no doubt it is one of the best free photo editor apps for android and I would highly recommend you try this app once since there are plenty to free filters and tools to play around especially the collage maker.
4. Adobe Photoshop Express
Photoshop Express is a free photoshop app for android and has a simple, clean, and easy-to-use interface. You can quickly customize your photos in one tap and the app has no shortage of filters and effects. You will find almost all the effects right at your finger.
Photoshop Express also comes with essential features like rotate, crop, contrast, vignette, text, etc. And like many other photo editing apps, it also has a Healing tool, so I decided to test and it didn’t work properly which was a kind of disappointing given that it’s from Adobe.
What’s not disappointing is its collections of stickers and frames and also the support of editing RAW images. Overall, Photoshop Express is a decent photo editor app compare to some big boys like PicsArt, Snapseed, and PhotoDirector.
5. Photo Lab Picture Editor
Photo Lab has a vast collection of photo effects having over 900 effects not only that it has download over 100 million in the Play Store. You get plenty of effects to play around like face montages, makeover, GIF animation, art background, and lots more.
The app is quite easy to use and is highly customizable. But what I dint like the about is it saves the photo with watermark and to remove it, you have to join their pro plan (~ $9.99/year).
6. YouCam Perfect
YouCam Perfect is another best app for photo editing on android. The app has clean UI and all the tools are easily accessible. You will find all sorts of effects like portrait, galaxy, food, scenery and many more. I also tried the InstaFit tool for the Instagram post which was working as expected.
Although I was disappointed with the Removal tool which was supposed to remove background object failed most of the time. For reference, you can compare the YouCam’s screenshot with Snapseed’s screenshot.
But what really impressive was the Beautify tool. It has features like face shaper, teeth whitener, change skin tone, acne remover, and lots more which were working excellently. Other common features are collage, rotate, crop, magic brush, frame, text, stickers, mosaic, etc.
Overall YouCam Perfect is a great app for beginners and provides many features for free. You can also try their premium version (₹410/month or ₹2,700/year) which will unlock more advanced features.
7. Photo Editor Pro by InShot
Photo Editor Pro is one of the best photo editor app on play store. Even though the app size is just 12 MB (which is lowest on this list) still has all the features you can expect from a proper photo editing app.
The app comes with all the usual tools including filters. There are plenty of filters to choose from, few are free and some come under the pro plan. In this app, you also get a few of the glitch effects for free which I think most of the people would appreciate since glitch effects are mostly available under premium plans ($7.99/year).
Photo Editor Pro also has a feature to fit your photo for Instagram post or story, Facebook post or cover, Pinterest post, etc with few minor editing features like background change, adding a border, and changing position.
The app also has a separate tab for body effects. In this, you can easily make a few changes to height, slim, face, waist, and so on. Overall, the app is great, consumes less storage, and has a clean & easy-to-use interface.
8. Pixlr
Pixlr is a lightweight photo editing app and comes with a variety of tools that might be necessary for the user’s needs. Out of all tools, I first tried the Heal tool to see whether it was able to remove an object or not and its result was way worse than other photo editing apps.
But we can’t judge the app based on one feature failure right. Well, when it comes to photo effects, it has a wide variety of filters available along with overlays which all were great. Not only that you also get tons of frames and stickers to choose.
And if you are lazy and don’t want to spend much time in photo editing, then you can also use the app’s built-in templates. Pixlr also comes with collage maker with various customizing options like grid style, grid ratio, border size, and border color.
9. PhotoDirector Photo Editor
PhotoDirector is among the most powerful Android photo editor app out there. Starting with some basic tools like crop, rotate, perspective, exposure, contrast, etc are available. But when it comes to photo effects, I guess there is no app close to PhotoDirector. There are so many filters available that you might get confused about which one to choose.
And just like Snapseed, you can also remove objects from the background image. Although it is not as perfect as Snapseed but most of the time it gets the job done. For reference, you can compare the Snapseed’s and PhotoDirector’s screenshot.
But the feature that got my attention was the “Animation” feature. As its name sound, it adds motion to your pictures. Personally, I found this feature super cool and you guys should try this once. It is fun.
Well, there are many other tools available that are either free or paid ($2.99 per month/$17.99) but don’t want to go in-depth since you might get bored. So why don’t you install this app and tell me about your experience in the comment section below?
10. AirBrush
AirBrush is another best android app for photo editing. It features many sets of tools, makeup, retouch, and filters. You will find all the essential tools like rotate, crop, prism, brightness, contrast, etc.
And like I mentioned earlier it has a retouch feature which works just as expected. You will get a wide variety of photo editing options such as smoothen your skin, remove acne, whitening teeth, hair dye, and so on.
If you are wondering about the filters well, the app has plenty of filters to choose from and if that’s not enough, you can also download more filters from their store. Even though AirBrush is a free app, but it has an in-app purchase and contains ads.
